共同重塑社会契约的条款是一项划时代的任务,它通过应对当前的艰巨挑战,为未来播下希望的种子。亨利·基辛格提醒我们:“领导者面临的历史性挑战在于,要在管理危机的同时缔造未来。如果失败,世界将面目全非。”<sup><a id="note18" href="#note18n">[18]</a></sup>在构思未来社会契约框架的过程中,忽视年青一代的观点将会给我们带来风险,因为毕竟他们才是未来社会契约的履行者。他们是否遵守社会契约具有决定性意义,因此为了更好地了解他们的需求,我们必须倾听他们的呼声。一个更加重要的事实是,年青一代比年老一代更具革新精神,更愿意改革我们的社会契约。新冠疫情已经颠覆了他们的生活:全球范围内,整整一代人深受经济和社会不稳定的影响,而在经济衰退最严重的时刻,还将有数百万年轻人加入劳动力队伍。他们将永远带着新冠疫情给他们留下的伤痛。此外,在背负债务的情况下开启职业生涯(许多学生有教育贷款在身),有可能会对他们产生长期影响。从收入、资产和财富角度看,千禧一代(至少在西方世界)的境遇不如父母一辈。和父母一辈相比,他们购置房产、生育子女的可能性更小。如今,又一代人(Z世代)正在进入一个在他们看来十分失败的社会体系,而新冠疫情揭示和加剧的许多根深蒂固的问题会继续困扰这一社会体系。正如《纽约时报》引用的一名大三学生所言:“年轻人非常渴望深刻的社会变革,因为我们看到前方道路已经支离破碎。”<sup><a id="note19" href="#note19n">[19]</a></sup>

这一代人将做出何种反应呢?或许他们会建议采取根本性解决方案(通常是较为激进的行动),来防范气候变化或社会不平等问题可能引发的下一场灾难。他们最有可能要求采取激进措施来改变现有的发展道路,因为支离破碎的现行制度让人绝望,让这一代人感到沮丧和痛苦。

青年激进主义正日益成为世界性思潮<sup><a id="note20" href="#note20n">[20]</a></sup>,社交媒体通过以往难以实现的方式,大大加强了其动员社会的能力,推动这一思潮渐成革命之势。<sup><a id="note21" href="#note21n">[21]</a></sup>青年激进主义有多种形式,既有可能是非制度化的政治参与,又有可能是游行示威和抗议活动,但都致力于解决气候变化、经济改革、性别平等和LGBTQ群体(女同性恋者、男同性恋者、双性恋者、跨性别者和心理性别不明者)权利等广泛的社会问题。年青一代是致力于社会变革的先锋力量。毫无疑问,他们将成为社会变革的推动者和实现世界大重构的重要力量源泉。
